My favourite photos of 2016

by | Jan 2, 2017

Hi everyone,

As 2017 rolls in, I thought I’d make a list of my favourite photographs I took from 2016 (well, out of the ones I’ve already processed). As I continue going through the thousands of images from 2016, this list may change a little, but I look forward to bringing them to you throughout the year.

For now, I hope you all have a great start to 2017!

Enjoy the vista…

Lofoten Islands The amazing Lofoten Islands
A panorama from a spot I found while climbing around on the mountains outside of Reine. It’s hard to get more beautiful than this.

Kirkjufell Aurora Northern Lights above Kirkjufell Mountain, Iceland
The famous Kirkjufell mountain with the Aurora Borealis dancing above. An already beautiful sight made even more spectacular.

Tallinn, Estonia Tallinn, Estonia
The fairy tale capital of Estonia, Tallinn. If there’s one city that feels like you’re walking around a Walt Disney movie, then this is it. Cobbled streets, colourful buildings, all surrounded by an old stone wall and turretts.

Plitvice Lakes Plitvice Lakes, Croatia
A UNESCO world heritage site located in the heart of Croatia. Turquoise blue lagoons, waterfalls, cascades all flowing down a green canyon with high cliffs.

Jökulsárlón Jökulsárlón Iceberg Lagoon, Iceland
The amazing Jökulsárlón Iceberg lagoon on the south Coast of Iceland. It’s hard to find a more unique place than this, with Icebergs the size of buildings. As the bergs get smaller, they wash out through the river mouth with thousands scattered on the black sand beach.

Vintgar Gorge Vintgar Gorge, Slovenia
Just a side trip from the famous Lake Bled, this gorge flanks high cliff faces with turquoise blue water that crashes down over the rapids at the base. A wooden path leads the entire way along the gorge.

Lofoten Islands Lofoten Islands, Norway
A beautiful sunset glow above the southern area of Lofoten Islands. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.

Skógafoss Skógafoss Waterfall, Iceland
Iceland has more waterfalls than you can imagine. They’re not your average waterfall either – they’re all amazing! This is just one of those beautiful waterfall in which I lined up for a selfie.

Mount Bromo Mount Bromo, Indonesia
It’s hard to get a more striking landscape than this. Perched from high up on the rim of a super-massive extinct volcano, with a series of small volcanoes within its interior. Such a surreal sight!

Bruarfoss, Iceland Bruarfoss, Iceland
This set of cascades may not be as big as many of the others in Iceland, but they are one of the most beautiful and unique. A series of double sided cascades, with turquoise water flowing over black volcanic rock. Definitely a sight to see!

Borobudur, Indonesia Borobudur, Indonesia
A pre-dawn climb to the top of the world’s tallest Bhuddhist temple made for a beautiful sunrise. The mist covered valley slowly revealed itself as the sun poked through the clouds. Combined with a unique set of ruins, it made for an amazing morning.

Switzerland Swiss Alps, Switzerland
One of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen. This was just one of three beams of light that rotated upwards as the sun set off to the side. Absolute stunning!

Senja, Norway Senja, Norway
This arctic coastline is absolutely amazing. Dramatic granite slabs rising straight out of the sea. Located 69 degrees north, it’s a remote but beautiful wonderland.
